Chapter 5 : Bitter Sweet


As usual, Cedric picks me up on time. At seven. I put on my favourite dress, and tiny floral dangling earrings to brighten it up. We went to 'Green Forest'. Our date is moving perfectly fine. It is a very, very extraordinary date. We have champagne, steaks, flowers. In summary, it is a candle-light dinner. I never feel uncomfortable once here in 'Green Forest'. Feels like home.

"Desserts! Oh my gosh, it's my favourite ice cream flavour!" I shriek. I look and admire the glowing dessert in front of me. Not that it really glows. I take a few scoops of it, slowly. Enjoying every taste of it. Bitter, sweet.. Mmm.. I give Cedric a smile. He just looks at me.
"Aren't you eating?"
"No, I'll watch you," he replies, short.
"Still missing your bithday cake?" I tease and chuckle. Again, he just looks.
"You are.." I pause. "..very quiet today."
"Am I?"
"Yeah..Still mad that I missed your calls?"
"No, not at all."
"So.." I raise an eyebrow. Speaking of this, I am really good at it.
"Sydney, erm.. I might not be around for your birthday."
"Well, you can tell me this three months later, when it is really coming. Haha.. But, why?"
"I.. Well, I am sorry I won't be around. I have some..plans."
"Right.. So we won't be able to visit 'Secret Lane'?"
"We will if you want to. Just a lil' bit earlier."
"Right." I fake a smile and just play with the ice cream which does not look as good as earlier.
"What do you want? For your birthday?" He smiles.
Well, I want you to be with me on my birthday and be away from your..disturbing plans.
"Uh.. Nothing. Have fun then."


If I have known it earlier, if I were a little smarter, I would have ask him what his plans were.
